Installing Ubuntu 10.04 on EEE PC 1201HA |

Recently I bought a new netbook as the SSD of my old one broke. I decided to buy the ASUS EEE PC 1201HA for its 12" display and comfortable keyboard.
Unfortunately the EEE PC came with a pre-installed Windows 7 but as expected, it was extra painful getting to work with it (several reboots, neverending "please waits" etc. )
It was real funny to wipe out the fresh Win7 from the harddisk and install UBUNTU ;-)
Installation from USB stick was quick and easy without any major problems. First I installed NBR but I was not really happy with it, NBR is designed for very small screens but the 1201 with its 12 inch screen is quite comfy with the standard Desktop installation!
the ONLY issue I had was that the built in INTEL GMA500 graphics card was not recognised correctly. But thanks to this nice project, this issue was resolved within 5 minutes:

(just add a PPA and install some packages as instructions tell, reboot -- full resolution available)
the rest - WIFI, Sound, ... worked out of the box!

ACHTUNG:
Facebook "Places"/"Orte" wurde automatisch für alle User aktiviert! Der
aktuelle Aufenthaltsort wann ihr wo eingeloggt seid (Handy!) wird somit
automatisch veröffentlicht!!
DEAKTIVIEREN:
Den Dienst
deaktiviert man unter: Privatsphäre-Einstellungen -->
Benutzerdefinierte Einstellungen --> "Mich im „Personen, die jetzt
hier sind...“-Abschnitt anzeigen nach...dem ich angegeben habe, wo ich mich befinde".
